Regardless of your running experience, one-on-one sessions are an excellent introduction to The Way of Running. The following topics are covered in every session:

Work On Movement Awareness

Correct running form increases running efficiency and reduces the likelihood of injuries. These classic coach & runner sessions make an otherwise complicated analysis of your biomechanics and energetics perfectly understandable. One-on-one work synthesizes many of the current ideas on posture and alignment, core strengthening, stride mechanics and foot-strike into a coherent knowledge base that works for you. You get specific instructions so you can eventually work on individual inefficiencies with mobility, range of motion, specific strength and symmetry on your own. All runners can benefit from this kind of help in order to get comfortable with new movement patterns and to retrain muscles and neural pathways so their running becomes easier, pain-free, and more fun!

Work On Breathing Technique

Until fairly recently coaches and athletes believed that breathing training wasn’t important because it comes so naturally to everyone. Over the last 50 years, however, a growing body of evidence has shown that improper breathing limits the ability of blood to convey oxygen to the working muscles. Which opinion is correct? As usual, the truth lies somewhere in between. There are as many breathing techniques as there are running form gurus with Somatics disciplines. To keep things simple, I break down breathing technique into three areas:

images• Tracking the Breath

• Full Exhalation

• Synchronized Breathing and Stride Patterns
