I have found that a “Peak Running Experience,” one of exceptional energy, bodily power, presence and flow can be created… and then recreated for any runner.
The “Way of Running” system is designed to establish and promote what I see as the “Three Pillars” necessary to further and support long term running success and enjoyment:
- Great Running Form and Technique – which with proper guidance can be cultivated in and mastered by everyone and is not something you are either blessed with or not.
- Sound Training and Conditioning – The importance of careful step-by-step progressions to provide a solid foundation for improvement and prevent injury or burnout owing either to overtraining or faulty training methods.
- Integrated Holistic Lifestyle – To promote the ability to sustain consistent training, positive mental outlook, solid nutritional support, and full carryover of the benefits of running for improving the quality of your entire life and the rebound effect that can have on enhancing your running success.
The “Way of Running” is a synthesis of the tried and true wisdom underpinning the great running traditions of the world and fresh information derived from both practical and inner experience. It includes both the technical elements of successful running as well as the spiritual dimensions of the body and running as a “Way”, in the true sense of the word. I mean this in the most grounded, pragmatic way.
My ultimate personal goal is longevity, lifelong robust health and participation in athletics and to support and mentor this vision in others.


At age 55, Art Ives is an accomplished master’s runner in his own right who has successfully coached or competed at every running distance from 100 meters to 100 miles.
